● La Malvinie20" x 15" (50 x 38cm) / Acrylic on gessoed panel / Private Collection
We all saw it at the same moment. It was mid-morning, the sun high, the heat rising. And there it was on the sill of the windowless window of the barn, a half-full jug of water, catching the sunlight against the velvet gloom of the interior. Out came the cameras. Looking closer at the jug, I saw the house reflected twice, one image inverted. It had to be drawn. Later, when I came to paint the picture, I introduced the wooden plank and the hanging metal bar. I’ve no idea what the bar is, I found it in my garden shed, the red string being the thing that attracted me. The original painting is in the owner’s private collection. Giclee print available -see prints page.

GUARANTEED TO LAST 1000 YEARS
I live by the rule, when you’re painting you’re not only making art, you’re making furniture. I use the finest light-fast oil, acrylic and watercolour paints, and work on hardboard. If you don’t damage, burn or submerge the paintings, they should last 1000 years. If they don’t, well, get back to me.
